What is Sensitive Skin, Exactly?

Be gentle to the skin around your eyes

So, you have sensitive skin. Don’t stress. You aren’t alone. According to the National Center for Biotechnology Information, 60 to 70 percent of women and 50 to 60 percent of men report having some degree of sensitive skin. People with sensitive skin may have reactions to ordinary skincare products, like burning, itching or stinging. What follows could be a rash, bumps or redness. While we don’t know the true cause of sensitive skin, many scientists think it could be related to genetics. They’ve also found environment and weather can also be a cause as to why people suffer from sensitive skin.

While the root cause of sensitive skin is still being determined, scientists and dermatologists agree the best way to treat sensitive skin is with gentle skincare products designed specifically for sensitive skin.

And that’s where CTRL Cosmetics comes in. As the creator of CTRL Cosmetics, I myself have fought the uphill battle that is sensitive skin. Reactions like redness and rash plagued me each time I tried to find a line that worked for my needs. When I finally couldn’t find one that worked for me, I came up with one on my own. And that’s how CTRL Cosmetics was born

If you, too, have sensitive skin, I suggest giving CTRL Cosmetics a try. We’re here for people with skincare needs just like yours—and mine. I know the frustration of trying to find a product that you need only to find out it reacts poorly with your skin type. Hopefully, CTRL Cosmetics will help you in all the ways you want and need.

Here are just a few things to remember, if you, too have sensitive skin:

Be gentle to the skin around your eyes. It is some of the thinnest and most delicate skin on your body. It also contains very few oil glands that help keep the rest of your skin moisturized. Because of this, this area has a tendency to show signs of aging first. Consider using an oil like Replenish or a serum like Lasting Hydration on these areas. And remember, both are formulated just for sensitive skin like yours, so you should reap all of the benefits without any of the setbacks of sensitive skin.

And last but not least, be sure to do a patch test. Simply apply a new product to a small, less noticeable patch of skin. And then wait. Results aren’t instant, but they are important, so just be patient and wait to see how your skin reacts.

As always, we’re always happy to answer any questions you may have about your skincare needs. Simply message us with your concerns, and we’ll help you find the perfect routine to turn your concerns into your best skin. And be sure to follow us on Instagram at @ctrlcosmetic for tips and updates.
